Margaret Ann "Peggy" Pepper

1931-2022
“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.”

Peggy Pepper, a long time director and friend of the Washington Community Theatre, passed away on July 5, 2022 in the Mon Valley Care Center.

A teacher in the Beth Center School District for many years, Peggy first came to WCT in 1970 – one year after the group was organized – and directed its second production, “If A Man Answers” at the Beth Israel Synagogue. From 1970 through 1995, Peggy directed 17 shows for our group. She was instrumental in initiating WCT’s affiliation with Washington Park and directed our first musical, “The Music Man” there in 1975. Other notable productions directed by Peggy included “The Sound of Music”, “The Odd Couple”, “Our Town”, “Brigadoon” and “My Fair Lady”. Even after hanging up her director’s hat in 1995, she continued to support our organization throughout the years. Peggy attended and was honored at our 50 th anniversary gala in 2019. Most of those who are currently involved with our group did not have the pleasure of working with Peggy. However, those of us who did will remember her as an “actor’s” director – one who always made every cast member feel as if he or she was a “star”! And we will always remember her final words to us before we went on stage – “DON’T TOUCH THE PROPS!!”

Rest well, our director. Rest well, our friend!
